The California Real Estate Inspection Association, CREIA,  has created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate CREIA's commitment to privacy, so that you, the user, will be aware of the uses made of information that may be generated as a result of you using our website.

Information Generated when you visit the CREIA Website
Depending upon your use of the CREIA website, certain types of personal and nonpersonal information may be collected. For example, you may give us your name, member number, or email address when you complete an application, respond to a questionnaire or submit an email to CREIA. Any personal information that you provide to us will be used by CREIA to fulfill the stated objective for which the information was requested or collected (e.g. if information is provided as a result of you emailing us, we will use the information provided, such as email address, to respond to you). In addition, such information may be used to update your member record in our database.

Other information that may be generated and collected when you use the CREIA website may be nonpersonal in nature. For example, we may collect the date and time you access the CREIA website or the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to the CREIA website. We use this information to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of the website and to help make the CREIA website more useful to visitors.

"Find an Inspector" and "Members Only"

CREIA is a a 501c6 nonprofit association consisting of real estate inspectors. As one of the many benefits of membership, we make available on www.creia.org/find-an-inspector a searchable database of certified inspectors. www.creia.org/find-an-inspector is intended to be used by members of the public to locate and contact a CREIA certified home inspector in their area.

In addition, www.creia.org also contain "members only" sections for which a login and password are required. The members only section contains additional information, such as forms and other information intended to assist CREIA members.

CREIA Educational Opportunities and other Products
The CREIA website contains several forms and applications that allow you to order products, register for educational events, etc. In order to process and complete your orders, you may be asked to provide certain information, such as your name, address, state and zip code. We may also need to ask you for your credit card number, expiration date, and security information.

The information collected through the registration forms is used to process your order and may also be used to keep track of the amount and types of purchases being made through the CREIA website. CREIA may also use your email address or mailing address to send you information regarding updates to the products you purchased or new products, which may be of interest to you. Some of the electronic courses made available through links on the CREIA website may take you to another website where you may purchase products, or register for educational events, and if so, you agree to be taken to and bound by the terms of that website's privacy policy.

With respect to your credit card information, this information is sent encrypted to a secure server. The information is then used to complete your purchase order.

Links to Other Sites
In some areas of our website, we have included links to other Internet sites which we feel add to or improve the quality of our website. While we hope you find these links helpful, we cannot assume responsibility for the privacy practices or the content of any linked site. Therefore, we encourage you to investigate and determine the privacy policy and practices of any linked site prior to providing information to the linked site.

Surveys

CREIA may from time to time create and use surveys on the CREIA Website. Most surveys are simple "click box" surveys where you click a box on the screen to indicate your response. However, we may from time to time ask you for your name, email address or demographic information. If a survey does ask you this information, we will use the information solely to complete the survey, compile statistics and update CREIA member records.

Listservs, Forum, etc.

CREIA may provide forums, listservs, message boards, and/or news groups on our website. These features will be helpful to the users of our website. However, CREIA will not monitor them regularly nor will CREIA be responsible for what is said on or done as a result of them. Please remember that any information you disclose on these types of features will be accessible to the public and you should exercise caution prior to disclosing any personal information on these features. Each listserv or other informational forum will have its own terms of use, which you must read and agree to prior to its use.

A listserv is a program that sends emails to the addresses on the listserv's list. CREIA listservs may only be available if you affirmatively sign up to participate. If you decide you do not want to participate in a particular listserv, the first email you receive from the listserv should provide you instructions on how to opt out of the service.

As required in the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance (DMARC) specification, and enforced by Yahoo and AOL, our third party community software provider routes and stores private messages sent from member to member via the “private email” aliases. These emails are only visible to CREIA staff with administrative privileges and will only be viewed by CREIA staff, if ever, for the purpose of maintaining the technical operation of the member communities. CREIA’s access to these emails is consistent with the access available to technical staff of your own email providers.

Disclosures Required by Law

CREIA may disclose information provided by you if we are legally required to do so, such as by court order or subpoena.

Security

CREIA has implemented reasonable security measures to protect against the loss, theft, misuse and alteration of information collected or exchanged on our website. If you are concerned about the security of the Internet or our website, we suggest that you not provide this information.
